L'article présente les résultats d'un questionnaire sur les émotions suscitées par les archives et leurs impacts dans la pratique professionnelle des archivistes. Déposé sur le site Web du Groupe interdisciplinaire de recherche en archivistique (GIRA) au printemps 2010, le questionnaire a été rempli par plus de 100 répondants. Tableaux et graphiques à l'appui, les auteures rappellent les thèmes abordés dans le sondage, notamment : le profil des répondants (ex. : âge, fonction, secteur d'activités), les types de documents qui génèrent une émotion (ex. : correspondance, dossier médical, registre de décès, photographies), le type d'émotion ressentie par l'archiviste (ex. : tristesse, peur, rire, dégoût, colère), l'élément déclencheur de l'émotion (ex. : lien avec un événement historique ou avec un individu, lien entre le passé et le présent) et l'impact de l'émotion sur la pratique archivistique (classement, description et mise en valeur des archives notamment). Finalement, il s'avère indéniable que les archives suscitent des émotions ; la voie est ouverte pour d'autres pistes de réflexion.
The article presents the results of a survey on the emotions evoked by archives and their impact on the professional practice of archivists. It was posted on the website of the Groupe interdisciplinaire de recherche en archivistique (GIRA) in Spring 2010, and 100 people responded. With tables and graphs to support their points, the authors review the themes that were covered in the survey, notably: respondents' profiles (age, function, sector of activity), the types of documents that evoke emotions (e.g., correspondence, medical files, death records, photographs), the kind of emotion they felt (e.g., sadness, fear, laughter, disgust, anger), the element that triggered the emotion (e.g., a link with a historical event or with an individual or a link between the past and present), and the impact that the emotion had on their archival practice (in particular arrangement, description, and communication of archives). They conclude that it is undeniable that archives give rise to emotions; their work opens the way to further reflection.

L'archivage de l'information dans un environnement web suscite plusieurs interrogations et inquiétudes. Dans ce texte, l'auteure présente la logique qui sous-tend le web, la nature des documents qui y circulent et les raisons pour lesquelles celui-ci doit être archivé. L'auteure décrit ensuite les principales initiatives en cours d'archivage du web et les approches utilisées en dégageant les avantages et les inconvénients relatifs à chacune d'elles. Enfin, elle termine en abordant les principaux défis à surmonter et les leçons à retenir des résultats obtenus par les projets réalisés jusqu'à présent. À cet égard, elle identifie deux pistes intéressantes pour surmonter les difficultés techniques, technologiques, légales et organisationnelles liées à l'accessibilité des publications en ligne, à savoir la maîtrise et le balisage du mode de conception des sites web et une intervention plus soutenue des spécialistes de l'information, notamment des archivistes.
Archiving web-based information gives rise to a number of questions and concerns. In this article, the author discusses the logic that underlies the web, the nature of the documents that circulate thereon, and the reasons why they should be archived. The author describes the principal initiatives that are underway to archive the web and the approaches that are used, along with their advantages and disadvantages. She concludes with a discussion of the challenges that have been encountered in each of the web archive projects that have been undertaken up to now, and of the lessons we can learn from the results they have yielded. She identifies two interesting lines of development for overcoming the technical, technological, legal, and organizational difficulties linked to accessibility of on-line publications, namely, the control and marking up of web sites at the conceptual level, and the more sustained involvement by information specialists, particularly archivists.
